Has anybody had to stop working because of their "illness".  I was just working 16 hours per week and I had to go down to 8 hours per week because of the outside stimulation.  I felt like to many people we in my head at the same.  Has anyone experienced this

M hmmm. I can't keep a "normal" job unless I am in a long hypomanic state. Even on meds, I still can't handle it. :( I try to make do and work odd jobs. I have a series of small businesses started during hypomanias. I get enough $ from them to pay for my car and that's about it. I've been coming back up since my last depression and such, and I'm thinking about seeing if I can work again. I have a couple med changes over the next 2 months before I can get serious about it. I have some motivation - getting married and I want some things special and I expect to have to pay for them.

I've always had trouble working. My symptoms started around age 9. I'm 26 and just had to quit another job because of morning sickness and depression. I can't tell you how many times I've up and quit a job because of depression, I've also been fired twice because of just simply not caring enough to go in to work or even call to say I wasn't going to be coming in. I work best when in manic states. I'm sorry you're having a rough time though, hopefully it'll get better. It helped me when I had someone like my father or husband pushing me, but not too hard, to just go and get it over with. Best wishes to you.
