I think It's genetic, has a good approach in starting with the dietary stuff. That means give up (or at least reduce) stimilants and depressants (such as caffiene and alcohol). I am sure it's genetic will be along with some recommendations.

I don't drink anything with caffeine in it, just water and I don't drink alcohol. I take vitamins. Yea it probably is genetic.

What medications are you on? Difficulty concentrating is a side effect of some medications. I had it on Abilify. It was particularly bad because I was in college at the time!

Its Genetic - Thank you for sharing the results of your research concerning foods. I have eliminated diet gingerale, sweeteners, & coffee. I absolutely LOVE dairy, and binge out on it, thinking it is a good source of protein, therefore something I reach for all day. So that comment was helpful. Eat lots of vegetables, but have slacked off since they are not that satisfying, but then nothing is..I wander into the kitchen just because I "want" something, never ever hungry. Was eating fruit like crazy, felt I ate so much that even the natural sugar was probably not good as well. Read about
the alkaline diet, but dismissed it, will check that out again. Was interested in a new book by Amanda Rose, who says there are 5 super foods for depression....Fish, Lamb, clams, sesame seeds and nuts. She offered a free download of recipes, and frankly it was repulsive so I dismissed it, though that info might help others. She had horrible post partum depression, so much so that she postponed having another baby and was able to get it under control thru her diet. And sugar - I love sugar and chocolate...so much so that I considered only eating fat free ice cream and chocolate candy exclusively, LOL. There seems to be so much to avoid, and now even those two favorites. But at least I got your definitive answer. Thanks for your input. And why is it so hard to find out the diet recommendations for Bipolars? Wish there was something called "The Bipolar Diet" - maybe YOUR forthcoming book...Good Luck and Thanks

Has anyone heard of Pyroluria? There is something in the urine, only one lab in all US tests for it and your specimen has to be sent packed in cooling material - could it be any harder? The "thing" in the urine determines which compounded supplements to take. Pfeiffer Clinic in Illinois recommends this, seem to treat a lot of mental health pts and chilkdren. Medical world does not acknowledge this condition. I think its exclusively something Alternative.
So the question is...has anyone else run into this in the literature? And what do you think?

Pyroluria is not recognized by the medical community. Check out Wikipedia for more information. Everything I've read about
it seems bogus to me.
