If not sleep, rest is good, or something that will make the time pass a litlte quicker, like a movie, or a book, if you could manage those. Playing cards/game? Computer game? But then you do have to go to bed. Not up all night.
Also, fresh air is good to promote sleep. Know how little kids get "knocked out"? Can your friend and you take a brisk walk tonight?
