Ok, I'm going to have to ask the community for help. I've read though and so far I haven't found anything helpful.
about two weeks ago my wife got mad at me. She went to stay with a friend, but didn't take her medication and I think was drinking during that time.
When she came back home, she was VERY verbally abusive to me. I kept trying to walk away but she kept following me. Now, it got to the point where I was sitting in a chair, and she started hitting me physically.
I pushed her back, and her full blown rage kicked in. She kept coming back at me, and I had to restrain her several times (she was swinging at me, kicking, punching, everything she could).
Now, she got really upset, grabbed her phone, called 911, and said I was abusing her and acting crazy.
The cops show up, I tell them she is Bipolar and has been off of her medication for several days. End result is that I got arrested.
The state is pressing charges against me, and she is listed as a witness. They do this so abused spouses can't drop the charges later on. I had to bail myself out, stay away from her, my son, and my house for 72 hours.
I have a security clearance with the Fed Gov. I haven't had so much as a speeding ticket in over 16 years. She was in the hospital 7 months ago after she started hitting me while I was driving down the highway. A few months before that, she woke me up hitting me because she had a dream I did something.
Just two months ago she broke my nose after she kicked in the bedroom door while I was sleeping. I've never once hit her, only restrained her and was able to calm her down.
about a after all of this happened, she started crying how sorry she is. She can't remember most of it, her blacking out during her 'rage' is normal. She wants to do anything to help out, but we have no idea what to do before this destroys both of us.
I have a lawyer, but trying to explain dealing with a Bipolar person is almost impossible until you've lived with one for years and seen all of the cycles. My family knows what I'm going through since my brother-n-law is also bipolar.
