I've been taking Lamictal for almost a year now. I started out really slowly and it took me about
6 months to get up to my current dosage. I didn't have any problems with it and it has started to make me feel better.
about two weeks ago I ran out and the pharmacy wasn't able to fill it for the same amount of time (two weeks). So I went two weeks without taking anything and I was starting to feel really bad. Anyways, I was able to get my refill on like wednesday last week and started taking it again at my prescribed dosage.
Yesterday I noticed that I had a really itchy rash on my right arm. I had had it for a few days but hadn't thought anything about it. Then yesterday I remembered about that life-threatening rash that you can get from Lamictal. I've been trying to place it but I can't remember if my rash started before or afer I started taking my medicine again.
I never had any problems with the rash before and was just wondering if not taking Lamictal for a couple of weeks and then starting up again at a high dosage and not gradually would give me that rash.
I talked to the pharmacist yesterday and he told me to stop taking it until I was able to talk to my doctor. I then called the on-call doctor at my psychiatrist's office and she said to keep taking it unless I started to get the rash elsewhere.
I'm still taking it but I just wanted to check and see if anyone here has had a problem with the Lamictal rash and if I should try to get in and get an appointment with my doctor. I'm still just kind of freaked out that I have the rash thats going to kill me.
Thank you for reading this and (maybe) answering, I know it was a really long post.
