Pdoc gave me 60mg cymbalta to try. The mirtzapine just wasn't quite doing it any more. He also gave me 50mg doxepin, increasing to 150mg if needed, for sleep.

I am so groggy. But I can't sleep. What is the deal?

Doxepin is a histamine blocker, CapninHapnin; your system is building up too much histamine either from diet or from some allergen in your environment that is bothersome for you. (It could even be a sensitivity to one of the meds you are taking.)

I use Xyzal (a potent antihistamine prescribed) on occasion and it really works well for me. But then I also take an allergy shot for the
most severe allergy I have.

Maybe it would help you if you underwent some allergy testing with
an allergist. You can at least find out what is causing the high histamine levels to build in you.

Do you drink a lot of tea or coffee? Try pure water for a while until
things clear up a little in the grogginess.

I'm genuinely sorry to see this happening to you. I know what you're talking about, and it isn't fun at all.

I'm severely allergic to poison ivy, oak, and sumac. Sounds as if you might have an inherited allergy gene, as I do.

Your wife is right, of course, about everyone's being different in regard to diet and meds and what works for one might not work for another. She'll be a better guide to you about "trial" use of medications. I've never been placed on trials when being prescribed medications, so I have no idea what that process would be.

How does your wife feel about the possibility of your undergoing allergy tests? I was amazed at the number of things that turned up positive for me, both in inhaled allergens and food allergies. Had no idea that I was sensitive to so many things. Changing my diet helped very much, and I took shots for the most severe ones. It worked.

Hopefully, others will pick up your message and respond, too.

Cymbalta is used for Major Depressive Disorder and also for pain, as you say you have been prescribed it for that problem. Lorazepam is
for anxiety.

Low sodium levels can cause some dizziness with Cymbalta. The two
of them are probably adequate to get you off to a good night's sleep!
You'll just have to see how you get along tomorrow night, as well.

I would watch the diet like a hawk at night, especially. You've stopped using caffeine which will just get better and better as time goes on.

I gather that you are not bipolar or depressed from your thread. You
might find the Anxiety Forum beneficial for you, CapninHapnin.  Please don't misunderstand; everyone here enjoys your membership, I feel sure; it's just that some of the Anxiety Forum members might know a little more than we do about suggestions to help you with your meds.

And 50 to 150 mg. doxepin as needed.

You didn't mention that you take lithium 600 mg. or Lamotrigine 500 mg.

I didn't intend to diagnose; I simply wished to point out that the medications you did mention were part of an anti-anxiety series; sorry if I offended you.
