British friend needs help...

I have a 23 year old British friend. She came here 8 months ago to live with her Mother and sister after a terrible suicidal attempt in Liverpool. She has been trying to stay sober but is having a hard time because she can not get medication for her severe depression and possible bipolar. She submitted all the necessary forms for her s.s. card but ins says it may take up to two years. So the free med clinic here will not see her without any proof of i.d. She has no money for a regular dr. nor does her mother seem to want to help as she has already paid her plane fare to America and a $1000.00 rehab. But this girl needs meds.

I do not think there is a British embassy in our town...closest would be LA. Where does a person go that desperately needs help but can't get it due to the red tape of having no ss card?

She just got sent to a hospital on the psyche ward for a 72 hour hold. I don't know what happened but am very worried about her.

Anyone know how I can help her. She is very sweet and I have been giving her rides to meetings but she needs a Pdoc. Some of us don't make it. I want to save her but I know I can not. But I could help her somehow. How do all these Hispanic people get ss cards and free medical help? Could you tell me how so she could get help too? Thanks.

I just found the closest British Embassy and called them but they are closed for the day. We live in Vegas and LA is a 4 1/2 drive away. But I texted her the consulate's phone number for her to call tomorrow. The website confirms that they help in emergency situations...so maybe she will call them. All I can do is give her the info. and pray for her.
