Fear of Abilifiy

I am scared of taking Abilify due to the weight gain. I have suppose to be taking it for a couple weeks now but haven't. It's only 2 mg but I have just lost 35lbs and don't wanna go back. Anyone else experience weight gain on a lower dose? Any advise will be appreciated!

Hello, i've been on abilify for almost a year and have gained no weight on it and i'm at the highest dose.

Hi kmarie,

I took Abilify only very briefly because I had extreme restlessness from it so I had to stop it. So watch for that too and let your doc know of any unpleasant side effects.

I can relate with the weight gain. I've lost 58 lbs in the last year and now I am afraid to try any new meds because of that as well. It's SO much work to get that weight off, the thought of gaining again is just unbearable.

The trouble is, everyone is different with every med, but I can appreciate you asking on here because it can give you some idea as to what others have experienced. It is true you won't know until you try it. If you're at a place where you think this medication could help and you want to try it, maybe try it but if you start gaining a few pounds, talk to your doctor about stopping it safely?
