Hey SoulNHealing,
Thyroids can affect of moods. It does bring on anxiety and depression. If the thyroid disease is severe, this can cause the mood changes to be more severe. An overactive thyroid may exhibit marked anxiety and tension, emotional liability, impatience and irritability, distractible overactivity, exaggerated sensitivity to noise, and fluctuating depression with sadness and problems with sleep and the appetite. In extreme cases, they may appear schizophrenic. An under-active thyroid can lead to progressive loss of interest and initiative and things like the slowing of mental processes.
Have you had a full blood work/thyroid test? This should be able to determine if the thyroid is causing your moods to go from low to high and vice versa.
