Hi i am new at this forum. I am also currently on the anxiety forum to. I wanted to know what other options there were instead of
medication. I am currently taking 200mg seroquel an only 10 mg lexipro yet no matter when or how i take it i still feel like a walking
zombie.

Hi, welcome to HealingWell.
My first question would be, how long have you been on meds? I know that when you first start on new meds, many have a definate sedative effect. That may continue with the seroquel. I've heard alot of people say it makes them groggy. I'm not sure though, I've never taken it. If you're bp and having an episode I'm not sure there are other options. Its my understanding that BP is a chemical imbalance. I don't know how you'd fix a chemical imbalance without chemicals. Not to say there isn't another avenue to explore, but I haven't come across anything that sounded reasonable to me. It's possible that once you've been on the med's awhile you'll feel less zoned out.

When do you take your Seroquel? When do you take your Lexapro? Are you bipolar? I take my seroquel at night and my lexapro in the morning. Though I have been known to take them both at night which works very well for me too.

I normally take the Seroquel an lexapro around 10pm or so. I have been taking them for about 2 years now. I am glad to know i am not alone though.

You might try some different Meds. I was on Seroquel for two years, and during that time felt pretty zombie-ish myself. When i went off of it, i improved greatly. It may just be your reaction to that particular medication, or combination of medications. Have you told your doctor how you are feeling? that should give him/her and idea of what medications might work better. Hope that helps and that you can find some that work, or an alt that will work for you!

Seroquel is an antipsychotic, but with a very sedative effect some people just don't like.  A new antipsychotic, Abilify, works the same way, but with little to no drowsiness.  I have been on Seroquel for almost 2 years, and lately had a lot of trouble with stability, in spite of my many other meds, so my pdoc added Abilify and viola!  All stable now, and no tiredness.  But then, I can't sleep without Seroquel so now I take both.  Another member here, Anenace, started taking Abilify shortly before me and we both got REALLY  straightened out, after about 2 weeks of not so pleasant side effects.  You really should ask your doc if that may be an  option.

Thanks for the info. I also cant sleep with out seroquel. I am moving to a apartment this week so i might not be able to reply to this until i get everything situated. Have a great day
