I have rapid cycling bipolar disorder and I quickly became depressed. Anyway does anyone hear voices? Or is that symptom of bipolar? I am going crazy and I can not stand it!

Hi curlybekah,
I'm sorry you're depressed. How are you doing today?
Did you talk to your doctor about
the voices you are hearing. Some people with Bipolar experienced this. This is known as psychotic symptoms. These could include delusions, auditory and visual hallucinations. Psychotic symptoms tend to fit in with the person's mood. You may be hearing these voices because you're depressed. Please try to fight this. When you hear this, try to shift your thoughts. Think about
something nice and positive to help. Maybe try doing things to distract yourself like watching a funny and nice movie, listening to some uplifting music, reading a nice book, calling up a friend to chat, etc.
Hearing voices can also be a sign of Schizophrenia. There are some people with Bipolar who hear voices but also have Schizophrenia which explain this symptom.
I would suggest you talk to your doctor about
it as they would be able to treat you for this symptom.

Hello curlybekah,
Hearing voices are psychotic symptoms of bipolar disorder. It is essential that you tell this to your health care provider. There is also a possibility that you have co-morbid disorders. It's common for patients diagnosed with bipolar to also have other disorders. I'm sorry that you have to endure this dilemma. Consult your doctor and tell him everything. In the meantime try your best not to listen to the voices. It's a good thing that you went here to ask for opinions. It only means that you're trying your best to not comprehend those voices. Keep it up. Just consistently distract yourself.
