Lamictal withdrawal

I was taken off Lamictal 3 days ago because I started to develop a rash on my arm. Since then I have felt sick off and on, with vomiting this morning. Also have close to a migraine headache. Have any of you that stopped taking Lamictal had similar withdrawal symptoms? I'm just trying to find out if all these symptoms I'm having are from the withdrawal or not. My doc said not much would happen if I stopped, but I can't explain the symtoms. Thanks in advance.

Hi Nathan --

So sorry you got the Lamictal rash -- darn it, you're that one in a million (well, probably slightly less than that). Sounds like the nausea and vomiting *may* be your body fighting to expell the med -- recognising it as a toxin to your system and fighting it out. If you think about it, most vomitting and diarrea is a body's way of expelling the bad. I wonder if you've been sweating more too, cos that's another way of the body expelling badness.

That's just my opinion based on the body's general reaction to stuff -- not anything I know about Lamictal withdrawal in particular. I don't think you were on it long were you? That's why my suspicion is that this is less about Lamictal withdrawal symptoms and more about your body's reaction to the rash and therefore the med that caused it. I might be wrong, though, and I do think this is something you need to discuss with your pdoc.

In any case, your best bet right now is to drink lots of water (sip it throughout the day), as the voomitting will dehydrate you and that just adds to symptoms like headaches. And try taking in protein through things like chicken soup -- always great for helping in times of nausea.
