  does anyone know anything about abilify or has anyone here taken it?  my dr. said something about taking benadryl with it but i don't know why. can someone give me some information about this

hey there.. usually benadryl is prescribed with the abilify so as to counteract any dystonic reactions you may have with the med.. have you taken it yet? Let us know how it goes..

Dystonic reactions are adverse side effects that often occur shortly after the initiation of neuroleptic drug therapy. They are characterized by intermittent spasmodic or sustained involuntary contractions of muscles in the face, neck, trunk, pelvis, and extremities. Dystonic reactions are very uncomfortable and often produce significant anxiety and distress for patients.

she said something about taking the benadryl also if i get to feeling too anxious. do you know anyting about tha?

That may be part of the reactions too.. Benadryl will help calm you and counteract all that.. have you started the abilify yet?

so far so good............ except tonite ..........it is 1:00am and i am still awake..........may have to strt taking it in the morning instead of nite

I resently found out that the reason why I am taking ablify was because I have anger issues. I was never informed about any side effect, but I do take mine in the moring and since I switch the times it seems to be works a little bit better.

I started taking abilify about a month ago. It makes me feel very normal and back to my old self except the depression still is present. I also get higher anxiety so my doctor prescribed me with Buspar, a quick-acting anti-anxiety drug. I have lost eight pounds so far because eating makes me sick and I gag about everything now. And it does not help as much as I would like. But it makes me sleep great and I can concentrate very well in school. I also am not shaky like when I first started the pills so hopefully things will be getting better.
