This is about my sister, who is 43 yrs old. about 10 years ago, she just went off the deep end. She was married and had 3 kids. Super Mom. Then she started with some really strange behavior. Not coming home at night, very angry at my family for allowing her to get married too young. ***? thinks we are all crazy and can't relate to her. bankrupted her family with no regard. Thought she deserved and could spend whatever. Took no responsiblity for anything. We would drive for hours to come visit, and she would not show up to her own home. Her husband would call and page her to let her know we were there and waiting, including my parents from a different state and she would just ignore it. Very angry at her husband for questioning her. Everytime I would have a conversation with her, she would have a blank look in her eyes. very volatile and defensive. Ignored her children. Everybody thought she was on drugs or something, but my family didn't believe it. One time she forged my fathers name on loan papers for school. At this time, none of my family have any contact with her. She is gone out of of lives. Our whole family doesn't understand what happend to her? After reading alot about BP, it sounds like maybe this is true in her case. How could someone completely change their personality and blame their situation on their family. We had a great childhood and she is dilusional and acts like things weren't great when they were. her perception is completely opposite as ours. Any input would be appreciated.

:-)   It is possible but Borderline Personality disorder... could be what she has also.... sounds like she she may have had a mental breakdown....

go online and google in  BPD.. and Bi-polar and look at the symtoms?.

 Have compassion for her as she may feel. very guilty now and very sad.

Has anyone sought to speak to a doc about her? It is all well and good looking up symptoms on the net , but it is not going to help you to be able to understand/cope , and it will not get her any help either. Please , even if your sister does not want help , go and get help for yourself. I would encorage her husband to go along aswell , it must be really hard for him to see her this way. They will also be able to suggest what steps you can take next.

BP? I couldn't say - even the professionals have trouble diagnosing this one.

I guess I am just trying to understand what happend to her? She is long gone and my whole family has no contact with her. She and her husband are divorced now. He has moved on. Her kids are adults now and we tried to keep in touch with them and so did my parents, but they have chosen to not be involved with us. Maybe they feel its a betrayal to their mother. I don't know. I can honestly say along with my other sister and parents, that we tried really hard with her and she refused help, still insisting it is all of us and not her. Whatever. We do think she had some kind of mental breakdown and had decided she is ok wherever she is.
