New Bipolar Moderator

Dear All,

I have been added by Admin as a moderator to the bipolar forum. Some of you will already know me from the current forum where I spend most of my time, and some of you won't know me at all! I am a 27 yr old Art student, studying in Maryland.  There is an email link for me on the left (The envelope icon) if anyone needs it. I know the moderator here already does an awesome job and I hope to fit in as part of this team too.

i noticed that your logo had you down as moderator of this rag-tag outfit.  condollences to you, my dear old friend (and i will still continue to bend, twist, and in other ways circumvent the rules.  i'm too old and onry to stop).  :-)    seruiously (if i can ever use that word), i wish you well.

how could i ever give up on this insanity?  :-)    i've been meeting myself coming and going.  my wife has been very sick and my chronic back pain has led me to graduate to percocet and morphine,  our daughter came down after both of my wife's surgeries and convinced us to move to alabama so that if anything new pops up she would be able to be there to help. 

we sold our house here in texas and expect to go to settlement within the next two to four weeks.  then it's off to alabama.  i will probably pack the computer in about two weeks - so don't panic if it takes me a few weeks to get back on-line.

like i said in another thread, i think it's something in the y chromosome that helps women deal with everything so well.  i'm coping and hanging on by a toe nail.  but we're getting by.

thanks for asking.  nice to see you alive an active.  a few times i was concerned about you.  i hope that is all in the past.

Thanks for always encouraging me.  Things are betternow, and I an hanging in there.  Those were rough times in the past, but better times ahead.  Yeah you will live closer to me now that you are moving closer to the east coast.

I am sorry about your wife, I hope she is recovering well and with no complications.

Back pain, ouch that must be a lot to take with all that's going on.

Hang in there my friend, you are in my thoughts and prayers.    Also best wishes on your new move.  How could I forget you, you were like my first friend on HW.

Olivia, I would like your opinion. My daughter has ADD, has suffered from depression (really major), but her mood swings always seem to correlate with her periods and pms. she has pcos which was just diagnosed. She has seen at least a few psychiatrists who never mention bipolar, but I myself have often wondered. Since she is now in her 20s, I can't mention bipolar to her without her freaking out.

What do you think of this? She can be so very, very happy for a certain amount of time, and then something bad will happen to her, and she can sink so low with depression.

There is no simple way to diagnose for bipolar disorder, it may take one time or several times before a psychiastrist or a trained professional comes to a diagnosis.

You've mentioned that her moods get really bad around here period and it does for millions of people out there.  It could be Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (below are links that explain a little bit about PMDD):

She could have any of those things, depression, bipolar etc, but there is no sure way of knowing without a psychiastrist or a trained professional handling it.

What symptoms is she having that is making you suspect that she might be bipolar?

In the mean hand, I wouldn't mention anything just yet, I would do some research on PMDD, bipolar and depression before approaching her about it.  Then suggest that you go see a psychiastrist or a trained professional together if this might make it easier for her.
