Hi I've been on Invega now for 1 week this is after coming off of emsam which was a disaster for me. I'm dealing with major lows right now and waiting for things to turn around for me. I also started lamictal today, I've been reading and alot of people it seems have had good results on it. The thing with me is the extreme lows right now. I've always had some sort of depression inmy life I've never noticed the mania until recently when I was dx. bi-polar. Now though I wonder beeing on all these drugs if I'm going to ever feel like myself again.. Any kind of enouragement would be helpful. I'm off work too right now on disability until they find what works and I'm stable again, thats just killing me, because I was so into work before. I won't be going back to my old job either so that is sad for me also I had worked there 3 yrs. Everything seems to be falling apart right now. Help!!

Lost, you will get better, you will. We all know how low that pit goes, that deep, dark place, but you really will come out of it. The worst part about the depression is how demoralizing it is -- how it makes you feel so sure that life will never get better. But that's an illusion. It's part of the illness.

Give the drugs time to work. Lamictal takes a few weeks to kick in, so if it works for you and you don't have any side effects you still have a couple of weeks to stick it out. I know how hard that waiting can be. I forget, are you on an AD too? Does your doc have you on anything to help with the day-to-day depression? In the meantime, do you have friends or family who are helpful and open to talking with you when you need support?

But in time, you'll get the drug cocktail right, you'll start to feel better, you'll be able to work again, and you'll find a new job. Maybe even something you like better than your old job.

I am literally just rising out of a 4-month depression. Yesterday I did the first real "work" I'd done in months and it felt sooooo good. It felt like my brain was working again, like I was back in control again. I promise, it really will get better for you too. Just hang in there.

thank you thats what I need to know is that I am going to get out of this pit of despair..... I'm not on any anti-depressants, my doc. feels that may cause more rapid cycling, I wish I could take something though to help me feel like myself again. the depression hurts right to the core, like stabbing in my heart. I can't wait till it all goes away!!!!!!!
