bipolar disorder

im a 27 year old male from london. I have had mental health issues since the age of 16. I have tried nearly every medication under the sun (SSRIs, antipsychotics u name it) but none have helped. Ive contemplated suicide on many occasions but what has drawn me back is the heartbreak i would leave my mother.
more recently i was given a lifeline. One doctor suggested i had bipolar and after starting me on lamotrigine, i felt reborn. Even though the drug has been working great for 3 months at 300mg a day, i have recently started developing agitation and inner restlessness which has caused me 2 decrease the dose, however i am still getting the agitation. Has anyone else suffered similar side effects? And if so, does any1 have any suggestions?
I do not want 2 stop this drug as it has worked a miracle 4 me but these side effects are very troublesome

Ready2die, as the mother to a BP, I want you to know that you are correct...NOTHING would cause your mother more pain than that! You are a smart and loving son to recongnize that and NEVER allow yourself to go there - no matter how bad you may feel. With BP, just know, that when one medication doesn't do the full job, or it becomes less effective...work closely with your pdoc as they will work to find the right conbination of drugs to balance you. My son takes 4 meds, twice a day. There is talk of adding a fifth to help improve the ADHD (he also has) during school hours a bit more. So, in my experience this is not a one drug fits all issue. Give yourself a LOT of time....it WILL work its way through. Work closely with your pdoc...it is critical. And as a mother...I hope and pray my son will ALWAYS make a better choice than that...like you. There is always help available verses that alternative. You should take pride in that. I have NO doubt that your mother, who loves you as much as I love my son, DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LFW
