I woke up this morning and there was a dark discharge coming from one breast. Just a little but it was there. The other day i had a terrible stabbing/lightning bolt feeling go through the same breast. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I did a self examination and didnt feel anything. I made an appointment with the doc on monday and id like some information b4 i go. Can anyone ease my worried mind or give me any stats on symptoms. I am 50.

Hi there-
I think the only thing we can safely say is that there are a lot of things it could be besides cancer. There are a lot of benign breast conditions that can create pain and worry, perhaps a burst cyst. Regardless, the best thing you can do is to get it checked out and stick with the doc till you get a complete answer.

Hang in there and let us know what they say.

Like Lori said, this could be many things other than breast cancer. I had no pain, no discharge, no anything other than a papable lump with my cancer. Everyone is different when it comes to their "symptoms." But, I would suspect most women here had no symptoms at all. You've made an appointment to see you doctor. That would have been my recommendation, so you are on the right course. Keepe in touch and let us know what you find out. WOW! That was amazing. Support is everything hu? Thank you for the quick response. No discharge this morning. I spoke with my sister and she reminded me that my breasts always had stabbing pains when i was pregnant. I quickly reminded her that my morning sickness was my real clue and i am not feeling any nausea. I have never had one single menopause symptom. My mother never did -her periods just tapered down to a stop. No hormone drugs or hot flashes. Must have been her reward for having 6 babies. Thanks again for the support. I will let u know.

Just wanted to tell you that the doctor ordered a sonagram. She said that it probably is a palup behind the nipple. She said they usually are not cancer. So time to pray hu?

The doctor said there is a local type procedure they do for it and it differs depending on if it is cancer. Still i am a bit numb over all this. Since it is behind the nipple i can imagine it wont be fun. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia. If i were to have chemo or radiation it would destroy what little quality of life i have right now. This is my main concern. Ya know i hope they are close to finding out what causes it. Or a real cure that dont destroy you immune system.
