Breast cancer spread to lung and brain

A little history of why I am here.

My mother had invasive breast cancer in 1994. She had a lumpectomy and had the nodes removed under her arm. She had radiation and cemo. Then in 2005 she has a non invasive on the other breast with radiation. Now here we are in 2008 and she had went in for regular checkups and all and the cancer has returned. She was having numbness in her arm so I took her to ER. CAT scan showed two small spots on the left side of her brain then MRI confirmed over 30 and her lungs covered as well. I understand that breast cancer usually goes to the lungs then brain…

 

She stared whole brain radiation this week for 10 treatments then we will do cemo. I am worried how the treatments will affect her this time being brain and lung. She handled them fairly well when it was just the breast.

 

Has anyone had this similar situation? It is called metastatic brain tumors meaning the breast caner has spread to the brain.

I am in a reverse situation from you. My daughter has breast cancer in her bone marrow which is also a serious situation. She takes a chemo pill that has terrible side effects, but somehow she keeps going and going and refuses to talk much about it all. She will have another bone marrow biopsy soon and a bone scan to see if the medication is doing any good at all. Her other regular blood and tumor marker tests show no real improvement. She won't share with anyone much about those tests. She doesn't want anyone to fuss over her. Good Lord the woman is stubborn. She will be 49 in July. How old is your mother? Keep us posted and let us know if you need any questions answered. Brain mets is really difficult! We had one friend here who lived with brain mets a couple of years and had several surgical treatments as well as chemo. She was a tough one hanging in and staying positive! Stage 2(early stage)This stage describes invasive breast cancer The tumor measures up to two centimeters, and No lymph nodes are involved. In Stage3(early stage invasive)The tumor measures at least 2 cm, but not more than five cm.In stage 3 and 4 it can spread through lungs and brain as well ,so as soon as possible its necessary to treat the lump or tumour of breast cancer by Hormonal therapy, Chemotherapy or radiation therapy.HERCEPTIN, TYKERB, and AVASTIN drugs are available now a days for chemptherapy. AROMATASE inhibitors, ANTI-ESTROGEN for hormone therapy.
