hi there this is my very first time on here or any other forums so please be kind,i am just over the big 40 and a few months ago I woke up to find my right breast to be swollen red I was surprised that it was like this anyway I waited for a month or so b4 I went to see the doctor I had a lump and it felt hard but no pain so as the time went on it got bigger so I did go see my gp she said it is more likely to be a cyst but I should be seen within 2 weeks I was seen 2 weeks later I had a mammogram done and scan when I was having my scan done the lady said I would just like the doctor to see this b4 you go and see the consultant upstairs anyway she came out and told me to go upstairs to see to doctor so I sat waiting it was the end of the day and I was the last one to see him he told me that it was a cyst and the I was fine I was so happy that it wasn't the c word I never asked anything about it and plus I was rush out of the door.

its been 2 months now since I was at the hospital and within them few months I have kept a eye on it and a few things I am worried about first I never told the doctor that I had a lump on my coller bone it about the size of a bean or just a bit bigger and sometimes my collarbone feels like someone is pushing on it then other times I don't feel anything but the lump is still the same size,my breast at the start did go down when I had my star week but I could still feel the lump just not as big as the months has past my breast has always been red that has never gone away I have like large pin holes around my areola which was not there b4 and now I have a dent on my breast also which was not there b4 and now my breast stays the same size all month it dosent go down when I get my star week like it did b4 the thing is I don't know what to do now do I go back to see my gp and tell her the new changes or do I just wait and see what happens from now and if this is part of having cysts is this normal for someone with breast cysts please help not sure what to do now thanks

I would tell your gp and tell her everything including the lump at your collarbone.

Hi there thank you for your message I have just been back to see the doctor today she told me that the report from the hospital said I had a lot of thicking and a cyst,in my right anyway she has seen how swollen it is and the redness and everything else lol told me she is not happy with it and has sent request back to the hospital for them to see me and find out what's going on so I am pleased that she doesn't think I am going mad lol so now I will just have to wait till then.

Hi Milly43, I also have cysts in both my breasts and at the end of last year, the largest one, 4cms, was swollen up and was protruding in the form of a lump about the size of a small egg in my breast. It was also sore if I bumped it and after a mammogram and ultra sound the doctor performed an aspiration on it. (Draining of the fluid in the cyst, this is not painful at all) The doctor just gives a small needle into breast to anesthetize the area and then drains with another needle which you don't feel at all. The lump is gone immediately. I have had no problems since.....I hope this helps you...regards Sandy

Hi sandy I am not going to lie and say I am not worried about it coss I am but at the same time I have tried to not look it up on the net coss I know I will scare my self to death,to be honest it's not the swelling that worries me its the other things that come with it like the large pin holes in my areola and the dent in the breast the pin holes was there b4 but the dent is a new thing that's only come up over the last month or so ago I don't have any pain in my breast but I do get a bit of discomfort in my collar bone every now and then and with that lump on it also,but there is something else which I didn't think it was even connected I get an aching in my shoulder and down my arm and god I'm I tired all the time I mean I can sleep all night and day if I get the chance which is not like me at all I just hope they sort it out this time coss the swelling making me walk to one side lol only kidding :) milly 43

Hi Milly43 How is the health system run in America...I presume that is where you are. I live in Australia and am privately insured. Here I can get my GP to write a referral to get an ultra sound and the results are sent the same day back to my GP....It only takes a few days to get into the ultrasound X-ray, sometimes the next day. Even if you are not privately insured, I would consider paying whatever it costs just for peace of mind. You will worry yourself silly if you don't. The problem is you are in fear of the unknown!! I can honestly understand this but let me give you a little tip....The more you worry, the worst it seems to get! Do you know what the definition of fear is????

R...........Stands for REAL

"FEAR"..........."FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL"

I do hope you can get some answers ASAP so that you can stop worrying.....

I am 40 years old and since the age of 35 I have been getting Mammogram (some diagnostic) This time they found a new cyst. This cyst I new was there, but it was small. I have been having some tenderness and pulling pain. They said it was not cancer and they would watch it ,but I am still hurting. I have a family history of breast cancer and I also have the fibrocystic breast disease. What should I do? I am hurting, but I do not think they want to do anything, but watch it. I am not happy with this.. Please advise me.

Hi hon. I would tell your doctor everything you have said here. Doctors are here for us to talk to, and they should listen, and address all (not some) of your concerns. You should feel satisfied that all of your questions were appropriately addressed when you leave the office. If you're not comfortable with your doctor, you can always get a second opinion.

I think that it's great though that there was nothing that was suspicious for malignancy on your mammogram. That's wonderful! Please though--tell your doctor about the lump on your collarbone. It's better to have peace of mind, than to stress and worry.
