Found this article today on www.msnbc.com. SOunds like they have identified a gene that predicts spread to the lung, and now they can target these genes and proteins to treat and prevent.

Lori: I just read the same article on AOL. It sounds so promising. The article that I read stated that they had already found the genes that cause mets to the bones. Does anyone ever remember this being published?????

So...I guess i should have read the article.........but does this mean that they could prevent breast cancer from spreading to the bones or lungs or other places?

It sounds like they are saying that they can try to develop treatments to attack the particular genes, much like hormonal treatments target the hormone receptors. If they know who is at risk for they can try to detect it earlier or even prevent it.
