First of all I want to wish all of you a happy New Year, and to thank you for always being there when I needed you. I will never be able to express just how much all of you mean to me.

 

Now for my question, do any of you who have had a lumpectomy have a retracted nipple? My breast had just a small indent in the nipple at first but now the nipple is always inverted. I also have discharge, but nothing that you can express at any given time. I wake up and there is dried disharge on my breast. Sorry for the graphic information but I thought I would ask all of you. I had a mammo done but they did not see anything that was several months ago. I read that IBC does not show up on a mammo, should I ask for a biopsy? I have been worrying about it for awhile now.

Bern, sorry for your worries. Insisting on a biopsy may be fruitless, as there has to be a lump or area to biopsy. I do not think they would just biopsy a random area. However, I would suggest seeking a second opinion with a breast specialist. There are other tests they can do that are not invasive, whether an MRI or even an ultrasound. I would also encourage you to examine it regularly to note any changes.

Remember there are many benign breast conditions and certainly does not indicate cancer at this point. You are smart to get an evaluation though.

I know that Paget's disease, which is a form of breast cancer involving the nipple itself, involves discharge from the nipple, but I don't know how it is diagnosed.  Perhaps you could look into this.  But would radiation to the area have anything to do with discharge?  I didn't have a lumpectomy or radiation, so I don't have any experience...just thoughts.

I'm sorry you are having these worries.  It is not easy, I know.  I've had a couple of scares over the years, including a reported "mass" on a mammogram (not), a benign biopsy (thank you lord!), and  being told that I had mets to the bones, which was not true.  I hope this, too, is nothing.

Well I got right into the Dr today and she was not pleased with what she saw. She called right away to see if they could get me in for a mammo and a MRI. I had both and now the waiting game is on again. I should have some idea by tomarrow, at least I hope so.

Iam scared to death about this and I don't want to go through all that I did last time.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I pray that it is nothing. I don't blame ou for not wanting to go through any of that again.

I can just imagine how scared you are.  I'm glad you saw the doctor right away and got the tests done.  Let us know as soon as you know.  Email me if you want.  I was just about to email you and ask if you had a surgery date yet.  Sorry you are going through this.

Hi everyone

I called the Drs office twice yesterday and still did not get an answer yet. I guess I will get one today. I HATE the waiting, I wish there were some way to be able to get instant results on this. I will keep everyone posted as soon as I get the results.

I just logged on to ask when your surgery date was and saw your post. I don't blame you for being scared either. I hope you get your answers soon. One question, is your skin on that breast kind of "rippled" or look like orange peel? I'll be thinking about you. Good luck!
