Ok, I went to the doc yesterday and from the MRI, talking with her and my husband, I am going to have a masectomy done on my right breast with reconstruction right after.

The skin doesn't want to move around the lump, so she thinks it may be attached, so the nipple and all would have to go anyway. I would rather they just take it all and hopefully and cancer cells with it and I can move foreward with this. I go in on the 9th to talk to the plastic surgeon and then the two docs will get a time together to get this all done.

I'm nervous about the whole thing, and not thrilled about loosing my breast, but I feel like it's the best choice for me and my family. I have no idea what kind of treatment I will have to have afterwards, hopefully my lymph nodes will come out clean.

It's been a week since your post, how're you feeling now? I found that once decisions were made and appointments were scheduled, I had a calm about me and a sense of power. I hope you get that too. Sounds like you are in a good place and have good support. Don't hesitate to ask any questions or express any feelings...good chance that at least one of us has been in your shoes.

For the most part I am doing just fine. At times I feel a bit overwhelmed with all of this and the worries in my head come back. I'm just ready to move on from all of this.

Suzy what kind of reconstruction are you considering? Your appointment is not until the 9th with the PS, so in the meanwhile I suggest you read all you can about reconstruction so you have some idea what you want to discuss. Ask any questions here you have and hopefully someone can answer them for you. We do have all kinds of reconstruction represented here. Also if you feel overwhelmed, just let loose. We all understand. I see you post at the anxiety forum. I hope we can help prevent any overwhelming anxiety about breast concerns. Take care and relax all you can. Hugs and prayers for you, MK

At the moment, I'm really not sure. I have been looking around on the web and getting info and learning more.
