Hi all,

My aunt is starting chemo for her breast cancer today.  She's expected to do well today but not so well as the week goes on.

I'd like to send her a care package in the mail...just with some goodies to help brighten her day.

Can anyone help me with some ideas?  I've never gone through chemo so I don't want to send her something that might be taboo...like something to eat if that might make her even sick to look at.  For example, I have Crohn's Disease so when I don't feel good I don't want anyone bringing me a cheeseburger!

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

I rarely post but thought I might responed to you. How sweet to want to help your aunt. I also have crohns and am a breast cancer survior.

The most helpful things that I received were hard candy, chap stick, soft comfy house socks, and something warm to curl up in. Most important would be yourself. To talk or not. Just knowing you are there for her will help.

Very nice!  There used to be chemoangels.com.  see if they're still around.  Little cards in the mail and little stuff came in packages throughout my chemo.  She was very sweet to me, my chemoangel.

 

Also, no pizza, at least I heard that from chemonurses. 

 

Visit too.  sit with her when she's getting the chemo and bring a dvd player or something to amuse you both.  maybe needlework?
