Aspiration?

Hi all.

I just had a diagnostic mammogram/ultrasound done because of a sore and enlarged left breast. The ultrasound showed a very large cyst and a few smaller ones. I was told by the tech that the radiologist was "not impressed" with it, which is a good thing, but that i was to follow up with my GYN. I've read that cysts, if they're fluid filled do not usually need to be aspirated or biopsied, but i dread having to wait 6 months to see what might happen! Any advice? Should I insist on at least an aspiration? If not a biopsy?

What does your GYN recommend? The problem with aspirating is a cyst is that the fluid tends to come back, so it's not much of a remedy. I used to have numerous cysts that caused me pain, but after menopause, that pretty much ceased to be a problem. Don't know how old you are... An aspiration does provide the opportunity to test the fluid for cancer cells. So if you are concerned that there might be cancer there, the peace of mind a simple aspiration procedure could bring would be worth it to me. I just wouldn't count on that curing the problems the cysts cause.

Not much help, I know! Maybe someone else will provide some feedback as well.
