Newest update on Denise 12/8

Denise is still in the hospital, but she is awake and feeling better.  She had a stroke that left her right side very weak.  Her mom brought her kids to see her today, and if she has no other problems they will send her back home tomorrow.  She's just itching to get out of that place! 

 

If she can get her seizures down to 4 a day they will set a date for surgery.  They missed the last window in October when her seizures were down to 3 a day in the hopes that they would reduce even more. 

 

Please remember her in your prayers.  She really needs this surgery, and to remain safe and stable until then.  I sent your previous replies to her mother.  She printed them and took them to the hospital today.  She said Denise had tears running down her face as she read them to her.  You truly are a remarkable bunch of ladies, and they both send their thanks and love to all.

Thank You so much for the update... she is in my prayers daily. Denise-sweetie...I miss our phone calls! You get strong enough to come home and then we'll talk about how many Ensures you are drinking everyday, ok? Stay strong in faith and know that you have a whole lot of ladies here sending the very best thoughts and wishes to you. I am so glad you got yo see your children.....I am sure that made your day.... hang in there!

Sorry you had to go thru this latest bit of bad luck sweetie. Prayers are flying for you that you will soon have that much needed surgery. So glad that the children were able to come and see their Mam! I bet that brought a huge big smile to your face. And to have those little arms wrapped around you, my- what a wonderful feeling.........there is nothing like it.

Oh Cathi, believe me when I say that Rita and I agree with you!! We just don't understand it either! They should at least have someone at home with her 24/7, but at least the carers she has now are pretty good. We don't think she should be home alone at all, but things seem to be very different there. Believe me, if Rita and I could, we would go there and stay with her!

Hi Liz, welcome to our group! Sorry for your recent diagnosis...sherryg was just diagnosed too, you will find great information under the recent thread started by her related to her new diagnosis this week.

Denise's case is most puzzling to us all. She came to this board earlier this year with a breast lump and terrible luck getting in to see a breast surgeon for a biopsy. Seems in Wales (UK), they do things quite differently than here. After tremendous pain and swelling and months of waiting, she finally paid out of pocket to see a doc. Biopsy was negative for breast cancer. She began having seizures of unknow origin, and no one seemed to be treating them. Problem after problem, she finally got a diagnosis of brain tumors.

No one seems to know what kind of tumors she has, they cannot remove them or biopsy until the seizures stop. And they won't stop until they remove them. In the mean time,she has had 2 rounds of whole brain rads and another brain rad procedure, with some limited success.

To the best of my knowledge, we do not know if this is BC related or not. No one knows if the tumors are breast cancer that metastasized to the brain, if they are brain cancer, another kind of cancer or just benign tumors causing problems. Her case is most unusual, please try not to let it frighten you.

All of us here have had BC, and a few husbands of wives with BC have joined recently. We are in all stages of disease, and someone surely has some similarities to you. Please jump in and ask questions, you may want to start a new thread so that your post gets seen and we can respond.
