Having surgery, again!

Great, now my left lung has 2 liters of fluid in it making it very difficult to breathe when I do anything! UGH, I swear I get closer and closer to being Frankenstein with each surgery. They are going to do it on Monday. I said I will just wait b/c I am NOT staying in the hospital over the weekend if I don't have to! eyes   I am also insisting on a private room since I will be there for upto 5 days. Hopefully this will drain quick like it did when I had the fluid around my heart and I will be out in 3 days. But this time they are doing 2 tubes and going through the ribs, OUCH! Then they are going to spray talcum powder in the lung that way it shouldn't happen again.

 

I didn't know I was enrolled into the surgery of the month club. I don't want to know what Feb. will bring! The other lung, maybe. It has like 300-500cc's from what the surgeon told me. Then I told him he had better do my surgery ON TIME! Last time they had me go in overnight so they could squezee me in early. Later that day, they informed me it wouldn't be until 5:45pm. Well, when 6:45 rolled around they came in and said * Ok we can take you down now.* As soon as I got there he comes in to tell me that some woman came in and she is an emergency case and he needs to do hers first. If I hadn't be starved since midnight the night before and had some sleep I probably wouldn't have bitten his head off like I did. I said * I thought I was an emergency when they had me come straight to the hospital to be admitted for an early surgery?* UGH, I was just bitter b/c I was SO hungry all day and now they are telling me it's not going to happen until after 10:30pm!!! My family had been there all day as well! UGH.....he just kind od smiled and said *well, you are ON the schedule for a specific time* which is 4:30pm. As long as he is on time, I will be fine. But I dare them to say they are pushing it back! I may hurt someone! skull   So I will be usueless for awhile. I can't do anything now b/c I get to winded and cough alot. So I will be sitting on my butt doing a whole lotta nothing until Monday. This time I will be prepared and I am taking my cd player and a huge word find. I miss my TV when I am there. They just have the cable. And you know there is no sleeping from 10pm -8am! GGGRRR....they make me so mad. Atleast my port makes things easier.

Oh Shelly! I am so sorry to hear you have to check in yet again. Please know that you are in my prayers. I hope your doc is on time and everything goes quickly, especially your recovery.

Shelley, I do not know what to say. You know my thoughts and prayers are with you. I sure hope things go better this time. I miss your old hospital. This one does not seem to be as organized. Just getting a call through can be work with this place. Hope all goes as smooth as possible. L&H Joyce

Oh, Shells....I am so sorry to hear about this nonsense!  Maybe they get Bravo channel on cable and you can see Queer Eye! New season started, I have not watched it yet.

You be sure to tell the docs exactly what to do to take care of you....you know best!  Please have someone post for you when you are out of surgery so we know you are ok. PCE, fired up....pink boas (and pink long johns!) are ready!

Oh, Shelley, I am so sorry you have to endure yet another surgery. I pray that this will bring you some relief and help you breathe easier. I've never heard of spraying talcum powder -- I hope that does the trick! I have to say that your positive attitude even in the face of more surgery is truly amazing. I am in awe of your ability to keep your chin up. Please know that you are in my prayers...

Ah, Shells, so sorry to hear about the fluid. Hope it drains quickly and you're back home soon. Just cannot imagine you looking like Frankenstein!

Shells, sorry to hear you'll be going through surgery again.  I'll catch the PCE and be with you on Monday but I don't think the world is ready for me in pink long johns so I'll be bundled up and wear a pink scarf.  Gentle Hugs, Libby

I am sorry that you have to go thru another darn surgery !!
You have endured so much ...you are such a fighter.
All I can say is that cancer sucks and you my dear friend

I know how you feel when you get pushed back for a scheduled surgery. Especially when you are told to come right in so they can get you in early.  I wish we could charge Dr's for all the times they make us wait.

Wishes for a speedy recovery and that this procedure will ease the breathing problems.  Sounds like you and Connie need to get together.

I'm getting a little scared.  I've had a cough for almost two months now, and I can't get rid of it.  I really hope you can navigate this next surgery.  I tend to take matters into my own hands sometimes, like when I know better LOL.  I would probably have eaten when they changed the time the first time instead of starving all day.  Would have eaten in the morning or something like that partly to revolt and partly to comfort.  Please be good to yourself, and keep on biting heads off.  They need to pay attention to you!!!

Ok Shelley now close your eyes and think about this.... Envision us in pink long johns, pink boas, and pink ear muffs, pink gloves, and how about a pair of those clydesdale boots they wear at the ski lodges? I just asked vic what he thought of that and he has not stopped laughing at the thought of me dressed in I believe he said "Such a charming manor". Lori... I think its a great idea. Now Shelley think about that and I know you will smile. Just hope I can get all these Christmas pounds into the dawg gone thing. Now I know that just made you laugh. L&H Joyce

:(  Sorry to hear you have yet another battle to fight.. remember that you have alot of us here who are thinking of you and praying constantly!  I hope you have a successful surgery & you recover fast AND I pray this is your last,

You sound like a beautiful & amazing woman~ battle scars just show everyone how TOUGH you really are.. be proud of them!  If people are worried about how you appear on the outside then they are to superficial & shallow and they need to evalute what really matters~that is~ how much love you have to give and need to receive to stay beside you and walk with you through this incredible gift~ life

 

Our bodies are beautiful whatever color, shape or size~ anything that gets added or removed during life doesnt change who you are inside, so please remember this when looking in the mirror..even how stupid this may sound tell yourself you love YOU and your body, you and your scars are beautiful and eventually you will begin to see it..
