The dreaded mouth sores....YUCK

Had treatment on Monday.Worked Tuesday and half of

Wednesday. Throwing up and the runs on Thursday and

Friday. Yesterday and today mouth sores and yeast infection.

Sugar still high...so needless to say everything sucks.

Still taking Xeloda twice a day....

Onc prescribed a mouth rinse and Diflucan for mouth sores and yeast infection. I am pretty crabby these days but would

appreciate any extra prayers you can spare for me.

((((Cathi)))) wish I could take it all away for you... your post brings back memories.. i feel so deeply for you!!! don't know if this will help, but i was told a baking soda toothpaste helps (i already used mentadent) and i hardly got any sores at all... they say baking soda in warm water as a mouth rise also... hope this improves at least one of your symptoms..... extra prayers on the way....and hugs....stefanie

Sparing lots and lots of prayers for you, dear one....and mega cyber hugs. I hate that you are going through this, I am hopeful that it will bring you relief from the tumors though, and make it all worth it.

I am so sorry that you are having these problems. The pharmacy in my onco office has a mouth wash (their own magic) that works wonders. In fact, I keep some on hand for my dd and granddaughters. I would be more than glad to get a bottle and send to you, if you would like. I believe that the flavors are grape and either cherry or orange. For the first time ever I began to get some mouth sores this past week. Scared the heck out of me but the mouth wash got rid of them.

You got it, Cathi. Denise can really sympathize with the mouth sores. She thinks the treatment is just as bad as the ailment. LOL I'm sorry to hear you're having such problems. One would be bad enough, but YIKES! You've got quite an assortment going. That would make anybody crabby. LOL Prayers and hugs are coming your way, sweetie.

Hugs & prayers comming your way.
Sorry you are having such a hard time. I found that when mouth sores started that my white count would be low. I would start nuepegen shots and about the time the back pain started the mouth sores would start to ease. Don't know if it was coincidence or real medical fact but it seemed that way. Might be worth checking into.

Cathi, I hope this passes quickly for you! I haven't been through any of that part yet, but I do remember the mouth sores with my DH when he had sarcoma. Baking soda toothpaste was already mentioned and just a baking soda mouthwash also helped. You'll be in my thoughts!

So sorry Cathi. I had sores too and used Diflucan. They were especially awful during the transplant. I know I used a rinse because I couldn't brush my teeth. Maybe that rinse Deb suggested would help. Yes, we love you and you can be crabby. You can be a lot more than crabby. I can be that for a little reason. Prayers that you get relief and a remission. My onc prescribed something she called "swish and swallow." The pharmacist mixed it up from several OTC ingredients. It didn't taste too bad, and worked for a while...it made everything numb! I think one of the ingredients was lydocaine (sp?).

Hope you get past the third-day yuckies quickly!!!

Sending gentle hugs and mega prayers your way my friend.  Hoping the 3rd day yuck is past and things will begin to look up.  Mouth sores are one of the side effects I remember most (other than hair loss), but the mouth wash I got helped considerably.  That must be part of Taxotere.

Take it easy and get your strength back.  Love you - crabby or not - and you have every right to be crabby.
