Parabens and aluminum have both been suspect. A causal link has never been established between deodorants and breast cancer. The studies that have been done haven't really proved anything. It's kind of like the study that concludes that, because people eat more ice cream in the summer and more crimes occur in the summer, ice cream consumption rates can be linked with crime.
The study related to breast cancer and deodorants has the same flaw. They found that women who start using deodorants and shaving their armpits at an early age were more likely to develop breast cancer earlier than other women. Now, the problem with this study is this: young girls begin shaving and using deodorant when the hormones start raging... also about the same time they start wearing bras and start their monthly periods. We already know that early maturation is a risk factor for breast cancer, so how does that show any correlation to using deodorants? Why isn't there an increase of bilateral breast cancers? And why does this not increase the risk of developing breast cancer in men?
Anyway, I think that Arm and Hammer makes a deodorant that is free of parabens and aluminum. Secret makes a natural deodorant that uses calcium carbonate. And some people swear by Milk of Magnesia, vinegar, or alcohol. I'll stick to my Dove. :)
