need some info and some prayers

Been of bumming for awhile but back and asking for some help. A friend of my nieces was diagnosed a few months ago , she is a 34 year old mother of two. She found out today that her Stage III cancer and become leptomenigeal carcinomatosis. If anyone has any information please post it for me to pass around. The ACS website has some info but it was very bleak. If you could also send some prayers to Kelly via the PCE I know they would be received with open arms. They doctor told her when she was first diagnosed some chemo therapy and radiation and in a year she would have her life back. Needless to say she feels like she got punched in the stomach. Hi Cyndy--I did a GOOGLE search, since I have no personal knowledge of this. It seems that one group of docs found that systemic chemotherapy with carboplatinum and docetaxel (+trastuzumab) can be effective in the treatment of meningeal carcinomatosis from breast cancer. It is definitely worth Kelly discussing this with her onc.
