Draining (aspirating) a breast cyst....

I'm 41. I've had 3 mammos in the past couple years and each time it shows cysts. Today I went for my yearly mammo and they found that the cyst had grown, so they want to have it aspirated. The tech said not to worry and that on a scale of 1 to 10 I should worry "maybe a 2."

Has anyone had this procedure done before? Please share your experiences with me. Thanks :)

In my experience, they will give you a numbing medication before doing the aspiration, and it's most often a whole lot worse of an experience in our imagination than it is when they do the procedure. It's also generally quite a quick thing.

I had one the size of a golf ball drained a few years ago. This one grew very quickly and it hurt like crazy. But the aspiration was a breeze. I hardly felt it. My doc used a freezing spray and drew the fluid out with a small gage needle.
