Hello all,
I had posed a question earlier about a suspicious finding on my mammogram, but did not get any replies. Since then, I have had further information. The susp area was a finding of "architectural distortion" in the right breast.
The 6 core biopsy test has now come back negative for cancer (which was great news), but this seemed to mystify the team at Breast Screen. Apparently all images, ultrasounds, stereotactic biopsy and core biopsy pointed to breast cancer as I do not recall any trauma to that breast at all which might explain the finding.
I received a phone call this morning which said that the team was meeting on Monday to assess the situation, and that they will call me on Monday afternoon with the results of that discussion.
I asked whether the core biopsy could have missed any possible cancer cells, (it was in a very difficult spot to get to, and the doctors had to literally crawl under the machine to aim the "gun"). Could human error have missed the target?
I have been reading lots of posts and many discussion forums etc., and have found that on many occasions, women have said that although first biopsies came back clear, they were diagnosed with B.cancer later.
I am thinking I would just like to get this "suspicious" mass out and even if this still came back clear, then I would not feel as though I am sitting on a time bomb.
Who else has been in this sort of situation, ie first tests were clear, but subsequent testing showed cancer?
What a dilemma. What should I do?
