Ladies: I am asking for your prayers for my family and my eldest daugher. She is the mother of my 3 granddaughters.The 4 of them live w/ me. She was admitted to the hospital last night w/ severe stomach pains. After running tests, they thought it was a blockage in her intestines. After the surgeon saw her this am, he has ordered a ct scan as he is not sure that there isn't something else. I am also afraid that she is once again using hard drugs. She lost her job 6 weeks ago and hasn't gotten another one. She is running around w/ some people that are nothing but trash (the father of my youngest 2 granddaughters is included). So please pray that they find out what is wrong and that if she is on drugs again that this will be what will be the turning point for her. Also that I will have the patience and be able to deal w/ the outcome.

I am so sorry!  I will be sending you positive thoughts and hope that nothing serious is wrong with her.  Many times it takes a serious scare to waken people up.  Here's hoping this is it for her.  Stay strong!

Oh Deb, you know that my prayers will be with you and your family.

You know that you can't make anyone give up drugs unless they want to. I should think the children would be enough to straighten her out.

Maybe you should see about gaining custody of those girls. When it gets so bad that they lose their job, they're usually pretty addicted. You don't need to go through the stealing of things to buy drugs and, the number one point, have the girls go through this.

BTW, you know you could send those grandchildren down here for a while. We could have teenytinytown adventures with Jaidan, the 17 month old.

Thank each of you ladies. I actually have felt the calmness today that I haven't felt for some time. I haven't been to the hospital yet. I have spoken w/ my dd on the phone several times but the "jerk" is there, in his wheelchair, tattoos, and all of his glory. I calmly told her that she could decide who she wanted to be there w/ her - him or me - but I didn't have to share air or space or anything else w/ him. Here is a real kicker. This "jerk" does not have a valid drivers license because of numerous reasons, including having the wreck that paralazyed him from the waist down (drinking, drugs, driving unregisteresd vehicle, no insurance, stolen plates the day he was released after serving 90 days in jail for driving w/out a license.) My 2 oldest granddaughters (5 & 10) were camping. Who brings them home but the "jerk". He had a stick that he used for the brake and gas. Drove them 45 miles, winding 2-lane road. I was furious but, and anyone that knows me won't believe this...kept my mouth shut. I got the girls into the house. Then I called the local police, gave them his license # of the car and left the rest in God's hands. Jo-Ann, we just might have to come and visit and have some teenytinytown adventures!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My mother and I went through this with my sister for 17 years off and on. She finally got her wish - she died in January of a heroin overdose leaving behind her two children, never learning of my bc diagnosis. Thankfully, they were 19 and 18 and have turned out alright.

Someone else posted this and I agree because of all we went through. Get legal custody of the kids. My sister used her kids like pawns and would suddenly take them away and we couldn't see them for long stretches. She left them alone so many times, and they were finally pulled away and placed in foster care for 9 months and we had VERY limited contact with them then. We didn't have custody and she fought hard to get custody away from the father. Then she gave in and he ended up raising the kids. To his credit, he did a good job and was not a drug user (nor alcohol).

I pray that your daughter does not have serious health issues going on, and that maybe she can get into some sort of counseling. My sister was very involved with AA and was ordered to jail and rehab many times. Always worked for a time. But then it would all start again. Addictions are so very, very hard to overcome and it's even harder to stay clean.

Debbi I have been thinking of you and your family since I first knew of the drug problem. I was not aware of the abdominal problem. I am hoping and praying that this will be the turning point. You have more than enough stress taking care of your own needs and do not need all this added on. Take care of yourself. If you get down then it would be even harder for those grandchildren because they depend on you. Hugs and love, MK
