worried about abnormal mammo

so i had a mammogram the other day and i had felt a lump a few days before. i do have fibrocystic breasts and i actually never do exams cause there are always lumps. but this one felt different. so i of course pointed it out to the tech. now they called me and want to do more testing. i have to wait a week. ugh!

it moves around and is about the size of the end of my thumb. does cancer feel a certain way usually? two of my friends got it and said it felt like a pea that wouldn't move. i will be a worry wart for a week i'm sure. it doesn't run in my family so my mom doesn't think i have anything to worry about. yeah easier said than done. :P she doesn't even get them cause she read they are damaging. whatever.

anyway, i'm trying to stay calm but kinda hard!! my doc's nurse is going to try to get me in earlier. i can't wait a week. they said they are so busy because of breast cancer awareness week. ughhhh

I had to have an ultrasound done and eventually a biopsy of a lump they found two years ago. It didn't end up being anything to worry about. We just have to make sure it doesn't grow or it will need to be removed.

I hope things go well for you too. I'm not going to say try not to worry because you still will. Let us know how it goes.

was the biopsy painful?

They numb you up when they do it. There is some pain afterwards but it was tolerable. I think I did cold compresses too which helped a lot. I had to wear a front hook bra for a few days and no lifting.

Had my first mammogram in 9 years today. Have had no problems, doctor just said I needed one. When finished the technician said I would receive results in a letter. Being the worry wart that I am I asked if I would be notified earlier if they found anything or had a question. She said no and went on to say she didn't see anything but she was not the one that read it. Do they say that to everyone? I worry about everything. Know I should have been going yearly but no doctor had mentioned it. Am 63. Any advice will be appreciated.
