Hi yall,

Well we are still here and fighting the good fight, missing my miss mel. It was hard earlyer this month as it was Melodies birthday. As fate would have it, it was also the week they erected Mel's grave stone. Ian still cries some at nite, still says his mommy is in his heart and remenbers climbing up on mommy and watching cartoons. Me I cry a lot. I dont work, I dont want to go outside much. but all is not bad. Me and Ian are trying to buy a bait store on the Missouri River between South Dakota and Nebraska. I think of yall on this message board alot Mel loved this thing..so She would want me to tell yall..........Cancer dont kill you.not breathing does..  If you knew Miss Mel, you knewlove and yall share it.if you want to see Mel's head stone email me and i'll send it.it was carved..its our family cross, and LOL the tatoo on my and Kai's back....you could say we mark ours really good.....My the peace of our creator keep you knowing love and wonder and not dispair.................Michael      [email protected]

(((Michael))) How kind of you to post and let us know how the three of you are doing. Miss Mel was indeed a loving person. I will always remember her smile and her courage. She was a wonderful person. Good luck with the bait store. Sounds like an interesting endeavor. Hugs, Lauri

I have thought of you all so often! Thanks so much for posting. I kept thinking about calling your Mom's house and asking about you, but as usual I procrastinated. I noticed Mel's birthday on my calendar and thought about posting something, but didn't.

For those of you who are new here, Mel was one of our true fighters who moved on to a painless world last year. She always had a beautiful smile and love in her heart. The first post in this thread is from her husband. Ian is their son who was in kindergarten last year. Kai is her stepson who was very devoted to her and helped her a lot. Three wonderful men. Michael's mother is a nurse who helped him take care of Mel in her final months. Jo-Ann and I went to visit and were treated like family.

Dear Michael, I'm crying again as I read your post. I cared so much for her and for her valiant fight. She will always be a hero in my life.

I am glad to hear that you are well. Michael, my Mitchell has been gone for 5 1/2 yrs now and I still cry now and then. There's just a part of you that never gets over the passing of someone you love so much. It's also a good thing to cry.

As far as not going out, I ended up that way, too. It appears that there may be stages in grief. Ian is thinking about buying a bait store by the Missouri River? Do you think he can handle the worms? YUCK!

Michael, no one is truly dead unless they are forgotten. We won't forget and I know you and your sons won't either.

What a touching post. I can only imagine how difficult life has been trying to adjust to such a loss. I never met Mel, but felt I "knew" her through this board. She was such an inspiration. Thank you for checking in on us.

Good luck with the bait shop. Maybe it would be something that could bring you some happiness.

Michael,

Thanks so much for posting.  It sounds like things are very normal for you.  Grief has it's own life.  Good luck with the bait store.

I will pray that the Lord gives you more and more peace as the days pass by.  He is faithful to us and will keep you in his embrace.
