Prayers needed for Bailey (my dog)

Hi everyone

Yesterday my husband was outside with the dogs and not paying attention and they got out under the fence. Unfortunatly we live on a busy street and Bailey got hit by a car. My hubby came hobbling as fast as he could to get me, he opened up the door and said the dogs got hit. I just about fainted and then my take charge kicked in. I ran out there and our younger one came running to me (Baxter) but Bailey didn't I went out to get him and both of his back legs were scraped and bloody. I picked hi up and ran to the car, with hubby hobbling behind me. They had him in the ER for 3 1/2 hours he has a broken toe on one side with cuts all the way up his foot that needed stitches and the other foot had one very long cut and a toe nail tore off. They did all sorts of ex rays to make sure he didn't break anything else. I tell you it scared me too death. I brought him home last night with a $1100.00 bill that I paid (gulp) but he looks like he will be fine. Both legs are bandaged and he is not supposed to walk on them. Anyway thanks for the extra prayers.

Oh dear, poor Bailey. We do love our animals around here. It sounds like Bailey will be fine with some loving care, tho. Now you have two babies to take care of that are not able to walk. I am wondering why in the world the vet bill was so high, tho. No broken bones, really? I am sure they took xrays, which are costly but not doing any bone setting that seems really high. I'm not sure what kind of dogs you have. Give them both some hugs for this old dog lover. Hugs, MK

Poor Bailey!!!  I will have him and you and your DH in my prayers.  I know you will take good care of him.  Pets are so special too us.

Oh the poor thing! Perhaps this isa good week for you to be off work. I hope that everything goes well for all of you!

I'm so glad to hear Bailey will be alright. That is sooooo scary! My dogs have gotten out a couple of times and the adrenaline rush is beyond words! I hope you'll recover from that, too. You have your hands full with the guys in your life. Please take care of yourself!!!!!!

Oh Bernadette, I'm so sorry this happened to your beloved Bailey.  What else can you go through?  You certainly are being tested, aren't you?  I know how you feel about your dogs.  I feel the same about my cats.  I almost lost one of my 'girls' when she was only 6 months old.  But, after a week and $1,000 in vet bills, she got better and is fine now.  I can just see poor Bailey with his legs wrapped.  How do you keep him from walking on them?

Geez, Bernadette, this is not good -- everyone at home in need of attention. I hope Bailey is mobile and gets better soon. Don't forget yourself through all this, and I will say a prayer for all.

Hi Everyone

Just got back from the vets office, they took off his bandages and cleaned and wrapped them up again. I got a chance to see the bad foot and it is ugly. His poor toe nail is just barely there with the help of stitches. It does not seem to bother him today at all. Yesterday he slept most of the day. He looks so funny with his feet bandaged up, and he tries his best to kick them off.

I still don't know how he kept from getting killed but I think it was Gods will to keep him around longer. I love him so much and it would have been very hard to loose him.

MK I thought the same thing about the bill, no surgery or broken bones and still that much. This is the only place we have ever taken our boys to but maybe we should look around.

Oh, I hate to hear of an injured, sick or scared dog. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a vet...until i realized that I could not stand to see a dog that was hurt or sick...which pretty much meant vetrinary medicine was not for me...

Thanks, he is getting better each day he still can't jump up onto our bed but maybe in a few more days. He truly scared us to death. I did not mention that he is a miniature Schnauzer. Our vet was so surprized that he was not hurt more or even killed. My husband said last night that if he had been killed he would still be crying for him. That is how close we are to these dogs (2 Schnauzers) By the way what type of dog is Tavish? I understand what you mean about not being a vet because of having to see hurt animals. When we were there a couple brought in their dog to be put asleep and the whole office staff was crying with them. Very sad to watch.

Bailey has another appointment this afternoon to check on his stitches but other that that I think he will be fine.
