can anyone tell me if before you are offically DX w/ BC, did any of the blood work come back negative and if so what was it that came back abnormal in any prelimary testing.

 

did anyone have any axulliary (armpit) involvement w/ lymph nodes?

 

i had an mri done on my left shoulder ( for torn rotator cuff and as a side note the radiologist noted in the report that i  had some axuliary changes noted but that they were probably benign. this was in july 04.

 

 i had an mammo done the following month which came back ok from what i could remember. have not had one since then. i know i know , i need to have it done again.

 i have had a mammo every year since 40 yrs old and am now 50. been on combipatch hrt for 8 yrs now and will not go off it. maybe i need to ramp down on the amount but cant trade quality of life over hot flashes and night sweats and insane mood swings.

now as i look in the mirror, the left side of under my armpit as i hold up my arms in the air, left side looks larger under armpit and alittle tender there as well.

guess i got to get to the  ob/gyn soon for a repeat. but i figured sicne i gone this long with mammo every yr since 40 that i would be okay and not have to worry so much about this anymore....

Hello and welcome! First of all, I would schedule an appt w/ your family physician or obgyn asap. I am surprised that they didn't do any further checking when they found the changes.

I don't know about blood work coming back detecting cancer other than once I was diagnosed and then had a recurrance. There are specific blood tests that are done on a regular basis once you are diagnosed w/ cancer. The counts jumped from 12-29 and that showed that there was cancer in my body somewhere.

I was 50 when I was first diagnosed. I put off having a mammo done because I didn't have any insurance. Wrong thing to do! I knew that there was something wrong but continued to ignore it until the lump was very evident. Please, please don't wait. It is probably nothing but you need to have things checked out. Don't let your dr put you off. If an appt isn't open soon, then ask to be put on a waiting list and call every morning to make sure that there hasn't been a cancellation. Another suggestion would be for you to get a copy of the written report that said you had some changes and also of your last mammo.

thank you. i have a rhuemy doctor who has been testing me for other things in my blood panels as well.

if someone were to have bc, is overwhelming fatique a symptom once it gets to far along?

Missie: I didn't notice any fatigue before I was diagnosed. I was working a fulltime and a part time job at the time. I believe that these are questions that you need to ask your physician. I can tell that you are frightened and that is why I would strongly urge you to contact your dr tomorrow, first thing.

Hi, Missie, I'm going to chime in here. I had a mast. with a 2cm tumor and 5 positive nodes in Dec of 2004. In Sept of 2003 I was in a serious auto accident with broken collar bone, 5 fractured ribs and a fractured scapula. I had an MRI in Sept and again just as I was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. No one mentioned any tumor or lymph node on either reading -- just the bone injuries and in 2004 reading a possible rotator cuff injury and a torn muscle in the back - neither are yet fixed. I did not get mammo in 2003 because of the pain I was in, and I believe I just waited too long -- until the next cycle in Nov 2004. Regardless, nothing showed on the Nov 2004 MRI either. I, too, do not know what your MRI reading means, but get to the DR asap -- mostly to set your mind at ease.

thank you. i am going to make an appt with my ob/gyn people i use but they are upstate in ny. the same peeps thati been using since 38 yrs old and they have all my old mammo's there to compare it all.

dont have HX of BC in the family but others like stomach cancer w/ grandma who died at 61 in 1961.

guess i am either depressed and i do tend to suffer form chronic fatique syndrome from the 11 screws and metal plates in my necky since my crash in 02 and subsequent ops in 03/04 shoulder rotator repair ( which was very painful and done by orthropod w/ arthroscopic means through 10 tiny inscions  but lemme tell ya JUJU this was no picinic, was on oxy for weeks after i had this op done on my left shoudler, i am thinking i have some scar tissue there in the shoudler also. when i had my hip op for the bone harvest for my neck op in 03, i got what is known as adhesive capulitis ( scar tissue) that still hurtw b/c i was never told to have it massaged to break up the scar tissue when i was supposed to have done this. so now 3 yrs later it is still hurting. sorry to get bogged down on this.
