Hi Sandy! Yes, I believe that each of us on this board that has had chemo has gone thru a battery of tests. One of the reasons, is as you indicated, to make sure that nothing turns up in another part of our body. The other reason that m ost onco do so many tests is so that they can have a baseline to compare to as your treatment progresses. I know that you are feeling very overwhelmed right now. You are probably feeling that your life is revolving around drs appts and tests. Which, it is and will for sometime in the future. I can tell you from my personal experience that I have a muga (heart test) PET scan and bone scan every 3-4 months plus my mammo every year. I would much rather be safe than sorry. But, I will also admit that I am scared and a total bear to be around before the tests are done. My family steers clear of me until I get the results! lol
Hang in there. Have faith in your onco. You want him/her to make sure that the treatment that you are going to receive is exactly what you need to beat this darn disease.
We are here for you. So don't hesitate to come and post.
Hugs...Deb
