After reading sooooo much and talking with you all here I thought that they always did chemo then the radiation, but when I asked my Dr about it yesterday he said he thought they would do it the other way around or possibly run them together.

Which do they usually do? Has anyone ever had them run together? and what kind of experience is that?

I also forgot in my earlier post to say that the hormone test isnt back yet so dont know much on that side. I did read somewhere about having the ovaries removed if you are one way or the other, I asked him about that and he said that unless you are having surgery in that area there is no real reason to do this...

Has anyone done this or spoke with their Drs. about it? Did you get the same answer as I?

I have not heard of it other than chemo first and then rads. Sometimes they do chemo first before surgery if the tumor is very large....but my knowledge may be dated. I have not heard of them together, I think they don't want the cell cycle to be impacted...chemo is killing rapidly growing cells as does radiation, and I think they do not want to do them together. I waited about 4 weeks after the last chemo for rads, to let my body heal and regroup after the last chemo.

Good questions...just because we may not be familiar with it, does not mean it is not done...it just may be a new technique.

I had chemo and rads at the same time, literally. I wore a pack with a pump and chemo in it, going through my port for the entire time of rads. I then continued with the chemo for a very long time.

Depending upon what meds they use and how your body reacts to treatment, there is no way of telling how you will feel. It is important, though, that you slow down during these procedures. If you're tired, rest, rest, rest.

I was pretty sure that everything I read indicated chemo first, but this afternoon I listened to the tape of the meeting yesterday and I did hear him correctly...he said he really thinks they will do the rad first then the chemo....
Guess we will all find out on my appt the 29th....
