K, Ive been reading posts here and on another web site I found...Some of them talk about the Stage of BC, which I know I have Stage II, but I dont understand the grade that they are talking about...I looked over my pathology report from the SNB that I had but dont see anything there about this "grade" stuff...

The copy of the original needle biopsy that was done does have this on it, but I dont know what it means:

Histologic Score = 1+1+1=3.....(looks like someone can add correctly to me!!)

Histologic Grade = I/III (is this the "grade" they are talking about?) and if it is, what does this mean?

Someone needs to answer this question who is much more knowledgeable than I am. Or you can google stages of breast cancer to get some help if you are in a hurry. Briefly, stages go from I to IV. Stage IV is usually when there is mets which is spreading. Stage I and II are differentiated by size of tumor as well as a few other factors. I was lucky and caught my cancer early and my staging is barely I. In fact the onc I saw drew a chart and showed me how each factor of mine fit it. I think there were all zeros but one I. It was a long time ago and my memory gets worse every day. Grade II is not terrible. My daughter was graded a II and she was dx in 1999 and has no further evidence of disease or NED as we call it here. Hope this helps a little. Hugs MK

I found some good info on staging on the net as well as some helpful info from some others on another web site.

Here is a good place to go for information on your pathology report. If this site does not answer your questions, seach the imaginis.com site for additioinal information. It is a good, reliable site. Lauri

I will take a look at that site...I think I have it figured out somewhat with help from everyone, but I still have alot of questions on my list for the consultation with the medical onc Wensday

Hi Lisa,

Yes I found some really good information on the internet but I think the best info I got was here and another forum that I have been chatting on.

now that I understand some, its not quite as scarey as I initially thought...Im still facing some chemo treatments and radiation, they say because of my age, but the cancer was centrally located in the tumor they removed, nothing in the lympe nodes, it had a low growth rate. The surgeon said he has to rate it at Stage II strickly because of the size being 2.4 cm, but feels it could have been easily at the very end of Stage I.

I meet the medical onc this Wensday to discuss treatment plans, when and how many treatments he feels I will need. The will meet with the radiologist onc Dec. 12th for the same thing....for some reason my surgeon feels they will start with rads then the chemo or possibly run them both together so Im hoping that means I will only need a few amount of each, but am expecting to hear the normal 4-6 treatments of chemo and 5-7 weeks rad :(

I have read some of your posts but dont remember much about your situation...is there anything I can do to help??? My email address is posted here in my profile if you would like to use that as well...

I had pretty much thought that was what it meant and I had my first meeting with the medical onocologist yesterday...unfortunately I left without knowing much more than when I went in, the hormone testing isnt back yet so he gave me information on all the what if's and hoped the test would be back today...so far I havent heard from them so plan to call before closing today....

The waiting and wonderful is really doing a number on me so I want to just get things figured out and move on with whatever I need to do next.
