I have IDC, had a lumpectomy 3 wks ago, node negative, 2.4 cm, Stage II, Grade I, havent gotten the HER2 or hormone testing results back yet...

What Im curious about is: has anyone here with similar aspects to mine not taken any adjuvant therapy? and if you havent what did you do and how long has it been?

I am high risk for other types of cancers since most everyone in my dads family passed away with forms of cancer so Im not liking the idea that some of the treatments have potential cancerous side effects.

Im probably jumping the gun thinking about all this without the Her2 or hormone results, but I feel I need to look at all options before just believing the Drs. know what is best.

I met with the onc again yesterday, my hormone status is er/pr+ and her2 neg, all other testing indicate a very low grade cancer..at this point he is not recommending Chemo, just radiation and hormone therapy...he is sending the tumor to have another test because the her2 is 1+ so he just wants to be certain but it looks like I have avoided the chemo for now.

Stage II and they aren't recommending chemo?  I think I'd want a second opinion, just to see what another onc would say.  I know occasionally they'll skip chemo with stage I, but has anybody here been diagnosed stage II and not had chemo?  Curious.

Thank you for posting that question...I as well am curious as to the no chemo thing...

I meet with the rad onc later today so will know more about the radiation...

I will see the medical onc again in about another two weeks once this last test comes back but I have been thinking of a second opinion about the chemo too...Everything Ive read that is similar to my case appears that they almost always do chemo.

Im looking forward to hearing from others here on their ideas.
