Did you get a notice of the "sister study"?

There is a study under way for sisters of women with breast cancer.  I just sent it on to my daughter that has not been diagnosed with breast cancer to see if she would participate.  I didn't read all the information but it looks like it costs nothing to participate.  There is quite a long questionaire to fill out.  Someone will come to the home I think to take a blood sample, urine sample, a toenail clipping and some dust from the house.  They play to follow up for the next ten years at least.  The way to look into this is to go to www.sisterstudy.org .  Or you can call 1-877-4-SISTER  They are trying to enroll 50,000 sisters by the end of the year.  If sisters cooperate I don't think they will have any trouble meeting that number.  It may do some good, who knows?  Think about it and talk it over with your sister if you are lucky enough to have one.  Hugs, MK

 

I am glad to see this study listed on this board.  I have volunteered and been accepted but truthfully, I was a little leary and wanted to make sure it was a legitimate (sp) study.  I was given other websites to check out to confirm its legitimacy like emsi.net.com and niehs (National Institute of Environmental Health Scientist).  So far, it seems to check out.  I learned about it in our local newspaper about a week ago.  I am happy to be a part of the study.  I hope with all my heart it can help in some way and that we can someday conquer breast cancer even before it starts.
