went in today for my spot compressions.  the girl that did it showed me the spot in question on my mammogram then proceeded to take 5 spot compressions.  She said to wait while she developed them and then we would look at them together.  She came back and put the first pic up and showed the spot that seemed even larger than before.  She didn't bother to show me the rest. She said there is definately something there and went to set me up for a sonogram.  Waited 2 more hours had a ultrasound done and was sent on my way.  At this point it is well after 5pm and the first girl is gone home.  So they told me to follow up with my Dr.

So I guess I really don't know any more now than I did before I went in. *sigh* Gonna be another long weekend.

Oh Mel, it always happens!!! Always the weekend to wait through. Actually the techs are not to tell you anything, the radiologist will read your tests and send the report to your doctor who will tell you the results. That always takes a day or two. I have had the radiologist talk to me an give me results but only a couple of times. The first was when he was sure I had breast cancer and he advised me to make sure my doctor took action asap. The other times were when I went to a special breast clinic for mammograms, the Dr made sure to give results to breast cancer patients right away to alleviate the worry. His clinic closed down because insurance and medicare payments did not cover the costs adequately. That was a real shame because it was the best place I ever went to have a mammogram and I have had plenty over the last 30 years. Let us know what you find out. We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts over the weekend. Hugs MK

Hey gma I just wanted to post a little thank you to you.  I have noticed that you reply to near everyone.  And during this scary time, the fact that someone bothered to answer me and just listen, well it means the world to me.

 

You appear to be pretty amazing.  And I am in Texas as well.  And if I don't get the answers I need here i will be coming to Fort Worth where I am from and my sister still lives.   Is there anywhere there that you could recommend?

I'm really sorry you have to wait like this.  I hope you find out something really soon.  I usually make a pain of myself and find the squeeky wheels sometimes get greased.  You know your people, though.

I sure hope by now you have some results. Most of my mammograms and sonograms have been done at Harris Hospital NW in Azle which is where I lived before moving to Bowie. That is also where I had my mastectomy. It is a small hospital, a part of the Harris Hospital system in Fort Worth. I have always gotten good care and have not had to wait long for results of tests. Where are you in Texas? Probably in the other direction from FW I bet! Jo-Ann is north of Dallas, but she is having some health issues right now with blood sugar especially.

oops I already posted a reply but I had to answer you Mary K.  I used to live in Azle too!!! In fact my sister still does. wow, small world.  I felt sure you would tell me to go downtown or even worse Dallas.  In fact back when I broke my neck I had my cat scan done in Azle.  An ex sister in law was head of radioligy there, not sure if she still is.  Great to know my options should I need them in the future.  I would certainly go back there, since I could stay with my older sister and that would please her to no end.  Thanks again!

Hey, if you are ever going to be in Azle, let me know. I will come and meet you. We are still trying to sell our house there, the market is not the greatest. I have family living there, too. It is a small world. I really appreciated the care I got at the hospital there, it was so kind and tender. I actually had tears in my eyes as I left and thanked the nurses and staff. A mastectomy can be difficult mentally, but they were so sweet I never thought of being upset. The food was excellent. Later I went to All Saints several times and it just was not the same, altho the care was good, the food was horrid and I do mean horrid. I am not one who fusses too much about food being bad, but it really was. LOL. Don't forget to let me know if you visit Azle. Hugs MK
