just a strange question

Ok, my left foot has been bothering me lately(mostly the toes), so much so I was considering going to the foot doctor. I keep checking it out but there is nothing there! So, I still have numbness in my feet, but this is a deep bruise feeling. Anyway, I go to look for sneakers the other day and decide to get my foot measured. One of my feet is an entire size larger! I went up a whole size since pre-treatment days. No wonder my toes hurt! I haven't been able to feel them hitting my shoes! I'm just feeling the after math-they always feel strange so I didn't pay any attention. Has this happened to anyone else? It seems silly but I was always told there is no such thing as a coincidence and my feet we're nice and uniform before cancer! Anyway, crazy, silly things like this have always happened to me so in a way I feel like I'm getting back to normal. But, I'm still curious to know if this has happened to anyone else??? Let me know, I'd love suggestions on how to buy shoes-I have sooo many I hate to think of giving them all up. It's great that this is the only thing ailing me right now!!!! (smile)

The key thing in your post which made me answer was you mention you couldn't feel your feet hitting the edges of your shoes. That sounds more like neuropathy to me than lymphoedema. Not sure how old you are but maybe you could get tested for diabetes. Neuropathy can be a sypmtom which often is ignored in the early stages (I'm a cardiac/diabetes nurse). That said, it could also just be one of those things which comes and goes after treatment. I do agree with gma though, whatever it is, the doctor needs to take a look. I've lost count of the amount of stuff which has had me in a tail spin one moment and is cleared up and gone the next. For me, my onc told me that it's a two week rule. If it's still a problem after two weeks, it's best to get it investigated properly... and reduce your anxiety. For what it's worth though, I've never heard of lymphoedema in the feet - not even from breast secondary cancer... so I think it's probably just one of those odd things our bodies do occasionally!

Dimples, If you see a surgeon before the onc, please tell him about it, too. If he feels it is something that needs attention and he needs more info from another doctor, he will call them. They will all work together for the good of the patient. Usually!!!

Welcome lavenderose!!! We can always use help from a nurse around here. I never heard of a combination specialty nurse, like diabetes/cardiac but it sounds like a super combo! I'm 11 years out from breast cancer with no further problems, but diabetes seems to have joined in my problems and high BP. Heart seems ok yet. But then I am oldest around here, too, at 69!!!! Yuk, better than the alternative as they say but it does sound old!
