I am a 16 almost 17 years old girl from Melbourne, I no longer have any friends and am bed bound. I am on the search for other teenagers just to add on Facebook or so what to be able to understand there are others out there. I want to make some friends that understand what I am going through and I can talk to and relate to. I have had CFS/ME for about 7 years now and am at this moment going down hill. I am going to be starting the Toby Morrison program very soon. I am honestly just wanting to be able to talk to somebody my age I have looked all over the internet and cant find anyone. I no longer have friends, my boyfriend of over a year has left me and nobody can understand how I feel. So if anyone knows of anyone that would be willing to contact me or be a friend please let me know!

Hi Bellynaye!

I am not a teen, but do have one. She herself battles depression and fatigue. As do I. She doesn't have many friends either.

How long have you been diagnosed with these disorders?
What was you activity level and lifestyle before you began to not feel well? Do you recall when it began and did it come on slowly to this point? Why did your boyfriend leave; and what happened to your 'friends'?

It was nice to hear from you I am sorry that your daughter and yourself are in a similar situation it isnt fun!
My disorder came on all of a sudden as it was not caused by anything other than stress so i was diagnosed three years ago and my symptoms are slowly getting worse. Before I was unwell I was a happy child I did athletics competed in state in high jump and was a very go getting person. I would love my food and try anything new but now I hardly have two meals a day. I missed a lot of school and I could not go out to parties or the movies like all the other teenagers and my boyfriend. Nobody truly understood how i felt and they would not know how to be supportive and I being sick would just lose contact as i would just be sleeping all day. People dont understand why I am always tired or why I cant come out on the weekend. I have now missed four months of school and will not be able to go for a ATAR and go to university until I am 21 which is a devastating fact. I have a passion for design and making clothing and garments which for now is something i can be doing from home but will be hard for my future.

I have had chronic fatigue and have a seven year old who is recovering from it. Did you know that doing something creative can help lift your mood and that we use a lot less energy when we are being creative/intuitive than when we are being logical/analytical. My son has done a lot of creative stuff and after a few months he has his cognitive ability back.

Hi bellynaye,

I completely understand what your going through, I'm almost 17 and I got diagnosed with cfs almost 2 years ago. I'm not getting any better, it's becoming much worse and I feel like nobody understands what I'm going through, because to them I look I look fine and I'm just making it up in my head but they don't see how ill I am, they don't see that it's actually a real illness.
