Head aches

 My 16 year old son has been sick since the first of September. He sleeps as much as 18 hours a day and does not have the energy to do anything. He has headaches all the time. He has seen 6 different doctors and specialist (neurologist, hematologist, nephrologist, etc...) and we still do not have a diagnosis. He was a straight "A" kid, on the basketball team, marching band, so this is so unlike him. My question to those of you that do have cfs...do any of you experience headaches 24/7?

oh, he has also gone had a sleep study that came out OK.

I will try and answer you question's the best I can,I will give you a little back ground on me so you can better understand where I'am comeing from.

Ok I have crohns,ra,oa,sjerns syndrome and a new dx of ankylosing spondylitis as well.So I do have major fatigue as well.I all so have miragrain headaches alot as well and that may be the sorce of his headaches.I do beleive that if he has not had any test done to determan if he has a autoamuin diseas then you may want to talk to his doctor and see what he has to say

Lerie has gave you some good info as well so you may want to ask about liver panel and all so if the doctor has not checked hi B-12 that may want to check for that as well that can cause sever fatigue as well.I wish you and your son the best of luck in finding what is causeing you son this pain.Please keep us up on how your son is doing.

Hey piano man, i suffer from 24/7 headache for quite a few years now. Ive had blood tests taken, mri and ct scans done and all was normal. Recently I have found out about TMJ headaches, this is related to the jaw being tense and teeth grinding at nights and for the treatment you require a mouth splint. it might be well worth looking into... hope your son gets relief soon

well...i got the mouth splint five nights ago, it definately helps as i dont wake up with as severe a headache. Its an on going battle with my headache and hasnt gotten rid of it yet... i usually write messages in the migraine chat forum and ive heard from people that a mouth splint  has tremendously improved or gotten rid off their headaches within three days or so,  so its definately worth investing in one and chronic headache is one of the symptoms of  headaches related to jaw clenching... but it could be related to something else you have to get a proper diagnosis as this is the key to curing headaches. Im no expert but you could telll me his symptoms cause i can really relate to your son as i too started my headaches when i was 16 too and i was pretty popular in school... it can really take a lot out of you and changes your life completely. It is important to do mri or CT scans to be safe but it is really rare that it would be anything serious. There are quite a few preventives that you could look into for eg. im on a medication called amitriptyline which in certain doses is a preventive plus an antidepressant ( there is a relation between depression and headaches)

Hi Twiggy, my son has had every neurological test done and everything has come back normal. He has not found a drug that make much difference. He has terrible pain only in the middle of his forehead. I took him to Duke Medical last week to see a Neurologist and he suggested that he may need to see a Infectious disease doctor. He tested him for a couple of different autoimmune disorders. Since my son has not been diagnoised with

cfs I'm not sure if that might be something you might want to look into. I am very sympathic to anyone who suffers this way. I hope you can find some relief soon.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Every time i see my pshcyh he always pushes to ask if im under stress at work and things like that. I always have weel not really askes about my relation ship with hubby etc. our relation is fine better than ever most times who's relationship is perfect? None that i know of. Anyway i explained to him that the children are at each other all of the time so that can cause some stress i guess, so i guess to him all of the stuff is normal to him and sends me on my way with another script and a new appoinment yeah. Some days i would like to tell him to live in my home for a week, work my job for a week and see how much stress he can handle. But i know that wouldn;t be happening. Anyway i hope that this make some sense. I hope that things will get better over time. As for now i have to what i can to stay focused and calm. Twiggy
