hello. has anyone here taken Provigil? i'd love to here about your experience with it. thanks.

It made me nervous and disturbed my sleep even more than it already is. I took it at 6 am and it still bothered me.

It's the only thing that keeps me awake during the day.  It's soooo exhausting to fight sleep but Provigil does help.  If I'm in pain I still have trouble staying awake..but there are good days yeah .  It's so darn expensive..even with insurance.  But a lifesaver for me!

Dear Diva,

Is your problem that you are sleepy or fatigued? I do not feel tired in a sleepy way, but like I have no vital force, no energy. I am just curious, because this drug's original use was for narcolepsy. Also, do you have trouble with mental fatigue or sensory over-stimulation? One of the reasons this drug has been suggested for me is to help with this. thankyou for additional info.

I'm from the Lupus forum but I take provigil. I take the max dose of 400mg and it's made a real difference for me. I'm not as fatigued as I've been. I used to sleep all day long, prior to taking the provigil. I'm now able to get up in the morning and manage to get through most of the day, like until 3pm before I have to give in a take a nap. I hope it goes well for you.

I took it for awhile before my lyme diagnosis (I was mistakenly diagnosed with narcolepsy). For me, it greatly helped at first -- I was able to stay awake for most of the day and actually get some work done. But then it gradually became less and less effective. Basically, the underlying problem (lyme) was still there. The provigil masked the problem for a bit, but I think it actually made me sicker because my body needed the sleep and the provigil was telling me I wasn't sleepy.
Could be different for everyone, it seems. I think it may depend on what is causing the fatigue to begin with.

I have tried taking it and it made me really cranky! Plus, it costs $400 a month and my insurance won't pay for it. My doctor gave me a sample and I have tried it a few times, but it really puts me in a bad mood and didn't help with my fatigue.

I, too have no vital force - as you say. I am not sleepy - just tired, like I can't do anything. Lying down does not necessarily mean that I will sleep. I think that most of us have stressed out adrenal glands and when you put a stimulant into the picture you are talking about stressing your adrenals even more. Just my opinion...

i have used provigal and ritlin and provigal worked so much better and you didnt feel the urge to retake the medicine like i did with ritlin i take 200 to 400 depending on how ifeel but because my insurence wont pay for it I have to rely on samples when the doc has them if not then i get a script for ritlin provigal has made my life better i do more now and i dont mind getting up early i used to lay in bed all day does anyone know any other medications for fatique i'd perfer not to take ritlin but dont know of anything elso when doc out of samples please answer with help [email protected]

I took provigil for about 6 months, give or take, and it was great at first. Now I don't feel the difference if I take it or not. Therefore, I am no longer taking it, but I am keeping the left over pills so if down the road my doc wants me on it again I don't have to pay as much (she no longer can give out samples).
