I am a 26 year old female from Australia who would like some advice, all my life i have suffered from joint and muscle pain in my legs, as a child i have seen many doctors, physios and naturapaths who had told me that it was just growing pains. when i was 18 i contracted glandula fever also known as Mono, this no longer shows up as active on my blood tests although i dont feel i have ever recovered from it. Now that i am older i have almost constant pain in my back neck and shoulders, i get headaches alot and i have symptoms of irratable bowel syndrome not to mention i am always tired and lethargic which is not relieved by rest or sleep (what i would do to wake up feeling refreshed). My main issue is that i want to find a doctor that understands this condition so that i can be tested for it instead of constantly seeing doctor after doctor who just tell me i have depression and try to push anti-depressants on me. I am sick and tired of everyone thinking i am a lazy hypercondriac and that there is nothing wrong with me as my blood test and xrays have all come back clear. I did once have a doctor tell my that cfs was a possability but he never went onto actually diagnose me with it (this is how i first found out it existed). I do believe i may have this condition but i dont want to say i have without being diagnosed by a doctor. Any advice or support would be great as i want to know if i should continue seeking this diagnosis and how i should go about doing so.

Hi KJDB.
Well, we can't really diagnose you, not being doctors and not even being able to see you!
However, I would point you in the direction of Lyme Disease and other tick borne infections. Your doctors will probably tell you that it doesn't exist in Australia. There are a growing number of people being treated for it there, however.
If you come on over to the Lyme Disease forum on this site, you will see a thread entitled, "New to Lyme?" It contains symptom lists and other information about tick borne diseases.
Good luck!

I am member of the Hummingbird Foundation which concernes itself with CFS/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Not to put any doctors down, but a true diagnosis can be found for true CFS/ME through an MRI. CFS/ME is a neurological disorder. I have ME and fibromyalgia, ME is a disease not a syndrome. If you are from Australia they will know what ME is and run tests.
Fibromyalgia's causes are unknown, but more and more symptoms are being contributed to the "syndrome". FMS is neurological also, but you will need to see a rhuematologist or neurologist. Before I knew I had FMS, I felt like a "lab rat".
ME is somewhat similar to MS.
ME can kill, FMS itself doesn't.
My prayers go out to you. Use the word Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, I contracted Viral Meningitis at the age of 8, and my pediatrician was sure it was ME that followed the virus.
He was awesome, when Polio was out of control so was ME, when the vaccines for polio came out, the number of ME cases dropped. He was one of the rare drs that made housecalls even in the 1970's. He didn't believe in passing out meds for every ache. My own mom contracted Lupus Erythmetosis from an exteme over dose of penicillin...doctors are not God's.
Search ME on-line....prayers

Believe it or not - the pain in legs could be fro lack of calcium. Have u tried this? Also, you mentioned IBS symptoms, do they happen to correlate w your cycle? I had same symptoms before hysterectomy for endometriosis. Gone now ..but replaced w alot more! Drs don't like to rush to conclusions in young ppl & without labs to confirm diagnosis they are probably right to do so. Have u had an ANA test? (Anti Nuclear Antibody) - confirms auto- immune disease.

Hi, I am new to this. Was in car accident last year. Suffer from whiplash also shifted disc in my neck. Also has deg disc disease. All of a sudden I get these pains in my arms elbows legs and feet for 3 months now. Battle a lot with stress and sleeplesnes for a very long time. Recently I noticed small bruises on my legs. But they usually disappear within a few days. Can this be fibro or a vitamin deficiency. So worried that it might be something more serious . I am 33 with two small children. Somebody with the same problem?
