Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Centers: has anyone been to one?

Years ago I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrom and EBV. What is it you want to know?

Treatment isn't easy and it's going to take you a while. Finding the right anti depressant for you is extremely important, but the drug is just to help you get through the depression. I went into counseling for a long time, (years). Finding a reason just to fuction was rough, but you have to. Try to do something every day to make you happy, no matter how small, you have to. I'm pretty healthy now and I have a lot of energy.

These centers have helped some people but they did not help me. They do not accept insurance and they are very expensive. I spent $12,000 in 9 months and was sicker when I left then before I started. They prescribe lots of supplements and hormones. They overdosed me on Thyroid T3. I was constantly sweating, nervous, losing tons of weight, heart pounding, fast heart rate etc and they just kept increasing the T3 without checking my blood levels.

Also I kept asking for a lyme test because my sister has lyme but they refused to give me one. So I finally switched drs. THe new doctor told me I was lucky I didn't have a stroke or heart attack because of the T3. And I do have lyme disease. So now I am on abx and am recovering from lyme disease.

I feel so much better now!!! The clinic not only made me sicker, but I spent my family's savings trying to get well. My new dr takes insurance and is much cheaper. There have been many others in the state I live in who have been misdiagnosed at the FFC center I went to. But I do know that some centers in other states seem to be much better because they have better doctors. But be prepared to spend a lot of money!!!!

I went and paid about $3500 for the testing alone. My other doctors had no idea what to test for and kind of sneered at the idea of so much 'over testing'. The FFC tests found overlooked problems with thyroid, cortisol, yeast, ferritin and probably more. I declined their expensive treatments and went to a naturopath who takes my insurance. She has treated those problems. Her yeast treatment plan is vastly superior to MDs'. She found other food allergies that have helped, too.

They have a tendency to hand you overpriced supplements when are checking out and paying, including some the doctor never mentioned. Feel free to write down the ingredients of anything they recommend and buy it elsewhere for less. That the only thing I really hold against them.

I found that a Rheumatalogy Doctor was the way to go.  They deal every day with problems related to immune supression.  Any of the problems from arthritis to neutropenia are tended to by Rheumatoid Doctors.  Yes, the treatments used may take some changing of medication until you find the one that works the best with your body.  But, when you do, the relief is wonderful and the Fibromyliga can go into remission.  Yes, then there are flare-ups, but they are usually caused by stress, depression, not getting enough sleep or can be due to proper diet.  Ask your family care physician about Alltess Testing for Food Allergies or rotation diets.  They make alot of difference.  Sometimes the Rotation Diets can be boring, However; when you see how much better you feel, it is worth spending the time in the grocery and learning what trigger foods can due.
