Hello, all...again....I know I posted many messages, but as of yet my PM dr. did not call back. What is my best way to go about letting him know the oxycodones are not helping me. He gaave me a script for 40, I take up to 5 a day. Am I supposed to go see him in a few weeks becasue 1. it is not helping and he didnt call me back and 2. it is not nearly enough for the month?

I hate to go back every 2 weeks as I do not drive. So another question would be......what does your normal visit entail when you see your PM dr., and when do you go?

I have been reading your post.

If were me, I would NOT call my PM doctor on a holiday. They are probably trying to enjoy family time with their loved ones. If the pain was really bad, I would probably try and tough it out or go to the ER. The problem with the ER is you are already on Oxycodone and they will probably not give you anything stronger to take home. Most ER's will give you a shot that will only last a few hours.

Do you have a Pain Contract with your PM doctor? Most contracts have a clause that the PM office will NOT call in meds on weekends, nights and holidays.

Can you try and tough it out until tomorrow when the PM office will be open?

Hopefully, everything will turn out fine tomorrow when you contact your doctor.

Shortcake, I meant that I put a call in yesterday around noon and noone ever called me back. I wouldnt call him on a Holiday, it can wait until tomorrow. But when I do call, I am unsure what to say..and the people that answer the phone seem so rude to me. I never receive a Pain Contact from him either, should I ask about this?

Hi mama,

I do hope your doctor calls you back. When you do talk to him ask him about the amount...be very honest and up front. Just ask since you are allowed 5/day, and even that amount isn't working, and since you were given 40...are you supposed to come back in 8 days if you needed all of them?

As for a contract...IMHO, I wouldn't bring it up if he doesn't. They can be very nasty about them.

What is your dosing schedule on the oxycodone? Is it every 4 hours? Every 6?
If you don't get a call back tomorrow, you might next time ask when you can expect to hear back from the doctor.. Some doctor's offices don't return phone calls at all, and yours might be one of them.
The few times that I have called my PM for something, I have either gone in, or they put him on the phone when I do call. They also know that I don't call unless something is seriously wrong, so that has a lot to do with it.
Is this a new PM or one that you have been seeing awhile now?
If you don't get a call back, make an appointment and discuss it face to face with him.

the Dr. usually prescribed enough meds till your next visit . Did you take more than needed . If so then you will have to wait till your next appt .If you have a contract there is nothing you can do . when you do go in to see him telling your meds just are no tstrong enough . and if he prscribed more then take them as directed on the bottle so you will have enough.

I did go back today and I am trying the Vicodin HP and 800mg Ibroprofen (sp?) I will see how this works. Thanks everyone!
